Simple~Special~Stunning

The purpose of "Simple Special Stunning" is to show how each issue of SheetLoad can be adapted for papercrafters of all levels. Whether it is sticking exactly to the sketch, or kicking it up a notch by adding some extra layers or bling.

Check out these cards that were created by Jessica George and feature the sketch from our July '09 issue of SheetLoad of Cards and the April Showers digital stamp from Squigglefly.

I had an anniversary...

Yep...we recently celebrated 25 years of married life. My darling daughter (the redhead) arranged a surprise party for us. Here is the top layer of our adorable cake...we are quite a "pear". I don't think we've aged at all...what do you think? Ü

Here's our wedding day in 1984....

And 25 years later....

I had a "bride" shirt with "25" on the back and little flowers around the neckline. Dear hubby had a "groom" shirt, also with "25" on the back.
And in keeping with the pear theme, here are the thank you cards I made. I cut out a pear from the craft foam and stamped it in yellow. I stamped another one and cut it out for a reverse mask...and then I sponged on a little bit of green. I really like how they turned out...I thought they had a great dimensional look about them.

Squigglyfly is fantastic!

Photo class fun...

This digital photography thing has me on the edge of my seat...literally. I think I'm a slow learner, but it is so nice to be able to go back and watch it again to see what I just didn't remember to do. This is amazing stuff! This is the Jessica Sprague class and I am SO glad I signed up for it. I learned how to colorize, add a really cool rounded corner mask, burnish edges, and so much more. Here are two of the ones I goofed around with today.

This is the same daughter...the first one she is about 9 or 10 and the second one she is 15 and steealing home. Where does the time go?

Home again!

We survived the softball tournament. What amazing fields they have in Medford. It's all turf. The girls actually liked sliding...much softer. But it adds about 15 degrees to the already hot weather down there. My dd said her feet hurt from being so hot. Anyway, they tied for 5th place out of 16 teams. Not too shabby!

Now...I was anxious to get back and work some more on the photoshop class from Jessica Sprague. Here's my latest attempt:

This is my 21 yo dd a few years ago. This class is amazing and I am thrilled to know how to do a few little things with pictures.

I'm off for some of this...

We're off to Medford today for the state softball tournament. This is my 15 yo first baseman...quite the stretch, yes? And also as she slides safely into home on a passed ball. We're looking forward to the tournament and visiting with some family down that way.

Playing with Photoshop

Here's my youngest daughter who is now 15. In taking the photoshop online class by Jessica Sprague, I've learned today how to change a photo to give the impression of a colorized photo. I didn't pick the best picture for this technique, but I still think it's fabulous. I loved it when I took years ago and I love it today!

I'm trying to learn how to use my old photoshop program!

Yep...I am one of the ones taking the Jessica Sprague's free online class. And since I knew just about zero to begin with, after two days, I've learned a LOT!!! It is exciting!!! Today's lesson was on brushes...yahoo...that is just too cool. Yesterday's lesson was on adding frames and word art, so I did both of those and then I added some amazing swirly things using new brushes I snagged over at Obsidien Dawn. They're beautiful. I can't wait to figure this out and come up with fabulous digital photos! I'm excited!!

It's a Caardvarks Challenge!!!

Caardvarks, ShortCuts, and SheetLoad have teamed up!! Take the July issue of SheetLoad, gather an image from:
Photobucket
Create something, and then link it up at the Caardvarks blog! SheetLoad gets to play along, so I made this:
I love, love, love this image from Squiggleyfly. I just had to add the dimensional magic to make the fish bowl "glass". Love it.

Make sure to visit the Caardvarks gallery for some amazing creations! c

Have you been to Caardvarks before? It is fabulous. Here is a little bit of info:

Caardvarks is all about making cards and having fun doing it. We know many scrapbookers who have zero confidence in their card-making skills. Caardvarks is always there, offering up themes to give them a starting point. We host card challenges on the 5th and 20th of each month. We’ve been doing it for over two years! If you keep an eye on the blog, you’ll see that we occasionally throw in a micro challenge (24 hour down & dirty challenge) as well as celebrity and reader spotlights. There is always a prize up for grabs and fun to be had!
